From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):Awesome news! JPMorgan Chase announced that it is planning to end funding for new oil and gas projects in the Arctic—including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Now, two of the largest U.S. banks, JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs, have joined more than a dozen international financial institutions in adopting policies rejecting funding for Arctic Refuge drilling. Urge other U.S. banks to get on board at https://secure.everyaction.com/T0V7DUalX0KpD8Sl_fQXKQ2.
It takes citizens like you getting loud and demanding action on climate—and protections for the Arctic—to win this kind of victory. While JPMorgan Chase still has a long way to go to reduce its overall contribution to climate change, this is a great first step and we’re glad the company chose to listen to the Gwich’in people and stand up for the Arctic.
Send a message to banks who haven’t yet taken action!
JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and others understand drilling in the Arctic Refuge would be a toxic investment and too big of a financial risk to take. Please help pressure the remaining major U.S. banks to follow their lead.
