From PennEnvironment (http://www.pennenvironment.org):
The cheapest, cleanest form of energy is the energy that we don’t need to use in the first place. That’s why reducing our energy consumption is such a vital tool for protecting our planet and taking on climate change.
Fortunately, state Senator Lindsey Williams and state Representatives Wendi Thomas and Jennifer O’Mara have introduced legislation to set commonsense energy efficiency standards for a set of appliances being sold in Pennsylvania.
Go to https://pennenvironment.webaction.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=42763 to ask your state legislators to cosponsor this appliance efficiency standards legislation today.
Research shows that implementing these efficiency standards will help fight climate change while also protecting public health and our wallets. By 2025, these standards would cut global warming pollution by 231,000 tons — the equivalent of taking 48,000 cars off the road.1
Implementing these standards would slash NOx emissions by 96 tons and SO2 emissions by 105 tons — air pollutants that contribute to asthma and other respiratory ailments.2 They would also save Pennsylvania consumers and businesses approximately $108 million on their utility bills.3
Energy efficiency standards will ensure that the products we purchase use less energy and water while preserving both quality and affordability.
But we need to show the Pennsylvania legislature that their constituents want them to implement smart policies to tackle climate change and air pollution. Adopting these energy efficiency standards is a crucial step. Show support by emailing your legislators today.
