From Americans for Tax Fairness (https://americansfortaxfairness.org/):
It’s time to ramp up the pressure on the U.S. Senate.
Last week, the U.S. House―for the first time in history―passed legislation to expose the owners of shell companies. These anonymous corporations are used by the wealthy to dodge taxes, by criminals to launder money and even by terrorists to jeopardize national security.
Experts consider this bill the single most important change Congress could make to better protect our financial system from abuse.
Write to our U.S. Senators today at https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-the-us-senate-to-pass-the-illicit-cash-act-to-hold-the-rich-and-powerful-and-even-criminal-to-account and tell them to pass the bipartisan ILLICIT CASH Act (S. 2563) to stop faceless elites, crooks and even terrorists, from using their anonymity to launder money and dodge taxes.
In the House, this bill was known as the Corporate Transparency Act (H.R. 2513). In the Senate, this bill, sponsored by Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) and cosponsored by three Democrats and four Republicans, will end a rigged system where anonymous U.S. corporations can hide the source of money and avoid paying their fair share in taxes. These shell companies can even pose a national security threat from terrorists.[1]
And because this bill is completely bipartisan, Mitch McConnell has no excuse not to bring it up for a vote.
