SB360, Intergenerational Poverty Bill has been introduced and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. The bill is rather specific, however, the key takeaways are: requires the Department of Human Services to establish and maintain a data system to track intergenerational poverty; the establishment of an interagency workgroup; establish an ongoing system of data sharing, policy coordination & communication among Commonwealth agencies; establish The Pennsylvania Commission on Poverty Elimination & Economic Security; with the overall goal to reduce & ultimately eliminate poverty in this Commonwealth by making policy and other recommendations to the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the Commonwealth.
