29 members of the PA House of Representatives supported legislation for 100% Fair Funding of Education last year. We hope to build on this work but we need your help!
State Representative Chris Rabb has issued a call for co-sponsors of his 2019 re-introduction of a bill to divide 100% of PA’s basic education funding through the Fair Funding Formula:
This legislation is a major step towards equitable education funding in Pennsylvania that is not sullied by racial bias. We can play a very important and timely role in getting this done.
To make a big impact, Rep. Rabb needs as many co-sponsors as possible before he formally introduces his bill on March 11.
We need YOU to contact your Representative in the PA House and encourage her/him to respond to Rep. Rabb’s call for co-sponsors.
So here’s what we are asking you to do:
Action 1: Before March 11, phone your Rep and encourage them to sign on in support of Rep. Rabb’s “100% Fair Public School Funding.”
You can get your Rep’s name and local office phone number at https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/index.cfm
Call your Rep’s local office, and ask to speak to the legislative aide. Use or adapt the following script:
Hi, this is <your name>, a constituent of Rep. <rep-name>. I’m calling to ask Rep. <rep name> to sign on as a cosponsor of Rep. Rabb’s bill for “100% Fair Public School Funding.” This bill would distribute all state basic education funding through the state’s bipartisan fair funding formula. Our communities are not getting their fair share of state funding, and our students deserve better. Will Rep <rep name> co-sponsor this bill? When can you let me know his/her decision?
Send a message to ydavis@powerinterfaith.org and tell us which Rep you called and what response you got.
Action 2: Pass this e-mail along to other supporters of fair education funding, especially in your congregation.
