Act Now to oppose FY 2018 Federal Budget Resolutions at http://org2.salsalabs.com/o/5118/p/salsa/web/common/public/content?content_item_KEY=13553! House leadership continues to conduct a “whip count” (canvassing Republican Members on their vote) on the FY 2018 House Budget Resolution, an essential step in order for leadership to bring the bill to the House floor. This draconian resolution is a blueprint for gutting programs, like SNAP and community eligibility, among others.
The Senate Budget Committee is reportedly focusing on its FY 2018 Budget Resolution, with the expectation that it could be taken up soon. There is pressure on the Senate to pass a budget in order to pave the way for tax cuts. Advocates are extremely concerned that tax cuts could be achieved (now or later) through deep cuts to essential domestic programs, like SNAP.
