Negotiations over the next COVID-19 relief package are underway between congressional leaders and the White House. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has released a COVID-19 proposal that omits SNAP benefit boosts and other human needs investments. See FRAC’s statement and anti-hunger leaders’ joint statement. New economic indicators underscore the importance of investing in SNAP and other programs that can limit the duration and depth of hardship and economic dislocation. It is crucial for Congress to act before taking any August recess.
