From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):
Earlier this month, we asked you to use your voice and urge Governor Josh Shapiro to commit to tackling gun violence as a top priority for his administration, and hundreds of you did. Just days later in his inaugural address, Governor Shapiro spoke about the epidemic of gun violence harming our commonwealth and committed his administration to making PA communities safer for all.
It was your request that helped make this happen! Your actions made a difference. Let’s keep up this momentum. Send Governor Shapiro a thank you message at https://act.ceasefirepa.org/a/shapiro-thank-you to let him know that we are paying attention and that we look forward to his partnership on this issue!
On the same day of the inauguration where Governor Shapiro spoke those encouraging words, mothers of gun violence victims sat on stage with him. On that same day, an Abington Township couple was found dead in their home, shot to death allegedly by their adult daughter[1]. Each day that goes by without lifesaving laws in place – like lost and stolen firearms reporting and Extreme Risk Protection Orders – is dangerous for Pennsylvanians. Let’s make 2023 different and not let another 1,700 Pennsylvanians die by gun violence this year.
While this was a big victory, Governor Shapiro’s speech was only the first step. Now let’s ensure there’s a plan and action to finally get these laws passed.
Send a thank you note now so our Governor knows how many Pennsylvanians are engaged on this issue.
