From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):
October 2nd was Energy Efficiency Day, in celebration of the environmental and economic benefits of this under-utilized tool to cut emissions. Did you know that energy efficiency could meet more than 30% of our expected electricity generation needs by 2030? It’s an important part of climate solutions!
Take action by sending a message to our senators in support of the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2019 at http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=26510. This is bipartisan legislation to improve energy efficiency in homes, businesses, and major industry.
We need to be better stewards of Creation, and one simple way is by using energy more wisely – showing respect and care for our earth and our shared resources.
Fortunately, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2019 (S 2137) is moving in the Senate. This legislation improves building efficiency and reduces U.S. energy consumption and carbon emissions nationwide. It promotes energy efficiency in homes, businesses, and industry. It requires improvement in the efficiency of the federal government’s buildings and facilities. And it helps homeowners realize a return on investment for energy efficiency upgrades.
Urge your senators to support the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act (S. 2137).
Energy efficiency is the cheapest and cleanest form of energy. But to embrace its potential, we need to more rapidly deploy energy efficiency technology – and that is what this bill does.
The Energy Savings Act will result in better building energy codes and mortgage lending that recognizes the value of efficiency in homes. These wide-ranging solutions help us stop wasting energy and begin saving money on energy.
Instead of being good stewards, our country has more often been a profligate energy waster. In the face of the climate crisis, it’s simply wrong to waste a precious commodity like energy when we know the result will be additional global warming, impacting our children’s future for generations to come.
Please, urge your senators to support this common sense energy efficiency legislation today!
