Expanded background checks continue to be a priority for CeaseFirePA — and judging by the polls, almost all Pennsylvanians. Currently you do not need any type of background check when buying a long gun (including rifles, shotguns and semi-automatic rifles) in a private sale. This puts our families, our kids, and our communities at risk.
Senate Bill 209 — introduced by State Senators Vincent Hughes (D, Phila., Montgomery) and Thomas McGarrigle (R, Delaware) would close this loophole.
