From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):
Over the years, the resilience of immigrants as they’ve fought for their dignity to be recognized and a pathway to citizenship for all people has been awe-inspiring. For example, Edith, Miriam and Ingrid, undocumented women who are boldly leading their communities, have declared, “undocumented, unafraid!”, “home is here”, and “no human being is illegal” and, in solidarity, the faith community has followed their lead. Because of their resilience, this week, the House of Representatives will vote on two groundbreaking bills that would bring us closer to our movement’s vision of citizenship for all.
Email your members of Congress today at http://fpl.actionkit.com/letter/support-dream-promise-letters/ to demand they vote YES on both the Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workers Modernization Act.
Together, these bills would provide a pathway to citizenship for more than 3 million of our immigrant neighbors, including recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS), as well as farm workers across the country.
While these bills would advance our value of citizenship for all, they also have exclusionary elements that would leave out numerous immigrants who have been racially targeted by the criminal legal system. We must push Congress to include the most people possible in these bills, given our commitment to dignity and justice. As people of faith, we must see the movement for citizenship for all through to the finish.
