From Social Security Works (http://www.socialsecurityworks.org/):
We’re building support to protect and expand the most successful social insurance program in our country’s history.
Rep. John Larson’s (D-CT) Social Security 2100 Act (HR 860) already has 211 co-sponsors―just seven votes short of a majority in the U.S. House.

When passed, the Social Security 2100 Act would represent the most significant update to Social Security since 1983―increasing benefits and strengthening the Social Security Trust Fund. Earlier this year, Social Security Works’ President Nancy Altman testified before Congress, calling the bill “a new and positive chapter” in the history of Social Security.
Rep. Larson will bring this critical bill to a full vote in September.
But before that happens, he needs our help getting to 218 co-sponsors, guaranteeing the bill’s passage. Together, let’s build a congressional majority and put Mitch McConnell’s Senate on notice!
The Social Security 2100 Act would: increase Social Security benefits for all recipients and protect low-income workers by increasing the minimum monthly benefit. It also helps Social Security maintain its value over time by adjusting benefits to inflation.
In addition to protecting and enhancing Social Security, it’s paid for it by introducing an essential element of fairness that is missing in far too much legislation that is circling the halls of Congress: This bill finally requires millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share.
Together, we can build a majority to pass this crucial legislation to protect and expand Social Security!
Regardless of party, the vast majority of Americans―more than 70%―believe Social Security should be expanded. After we get the Social Security 2100 Act through the House with a healthy majority, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump will be forced to either get on board―or go on the record against a policy that even their own voters overwhelmingly support.
