Tell Your Representative: Say NO to Bad PA Budget Bill that Puts Environmental Protections in Danger

You can make a huge difference. Right now, your state representative is deciding how to vote on a bad budget bill (HB 542 ) that would put important environmental protections in major jeopardy. The deal would degrade Pennsylvania’s air and water.

This budget bill is ridiculously harmful. The Pennsylvania General Assembly is playing politics with the health and safety of every Pennsylvanian by threatening fundamental environmental protections.

This legislation is full of giveaways to the oil and gas industry. It would create a politically appointed committee with veto power on protections from methane pollution from new shale gas industry sources. Air quality permits for shale oil and gas development that DEP has not acted on within 30 days would be automatically approved. Companies in any industry would be allowed to hand-pick third party consultants to review and approve their permits if DEP doesn’t approve them within specified time frames.

This is an unprecedented attack. Your State Legislator needs to hear from you today.

Tell your Representative to vote NO on the tax code bill, HB 542, or any legislation that strips you of your constitutionally guaranteed protections to clean water and clean air.
