Tell PA Senators: Vote NO on Bill that Opens Cities Acting to Make Themselves Safer to Lawsuits

You have to keep your eyes on Harrisburg — the Senate Local Government Committee is about to run the dangerous “Sue Our Cities Bill,” SB 531. This bill lets the greedy gun lobby sue Pa towns and cities that take steps to make their communities safer. We’ve fought this before in the legislature and the courts, but they won’t give up. They want to totally undermine our system of justice and how the court system works so they can give a special gift to the gun lobby.

We need to stop them. Please ask your Senator to vote no on this dangerous bill.  Mayors hate this bill, so do town councils. The only ones who like it are the gun lobby’s lawyers, who will try to extort legal fees.

According to the headlines, the NRA is in trouble — under investigation and hemorrhaging money.  It’s even been reported that last year they lost over $55 million dollars. Now, to try to stop the financial bleeding, they’re shaking down cities. SB531 allows them to sue our cities in unprecedented ways. Don’t allow your tax dollars to bail out the greedy gun lobby.
