From Families Against Mandatory Minimums (http://famm.org/):
This is a big week for FAMM in Congress, as multiple bills we are fighting for will get considered. Will you help us get them passed? https://secure.everyaction.com/P74Gsb53oEmeiaxPVfl7wg2
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 27, the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on three bills FAMM strongly supports:
- the First Step Implementation Act, which will make retroactive key reforms from the landmark First Step Act of 2018;
- the Safer Detention Act, which will improve federal compassionate release and elderly home detention programs; and
- the Prohibiting Punishment for Acquitted Conduct Act, which will stop the government from adding time to a person’s prison sentence for conduct of which they have been acquitted by a jury.
These are commonsense proposals—but we still expect opponents of reform to put up a fight. You can help us build support for these bills by contacting Senator Pat Toomey and Senator Bob Casey.
Will you take a minute now to email Senator Pat Toomey and Senator Bob Casey in support of the First Step Implementation Act? https://secure.everyaction.com/P74Gsb53oEmeiaxPVfl7wg2
Thanks for helping us fight for a fairer, smarter justice system.
