From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):
The “Build Back Better” reconciliation bill is our last best chance to secure investments in clean energy, climate justice, and clean vehicles in time to avoid catastrophic climate change. But according to recent news reports, Sen. Joe Manchin, Democrat of West Virginia, is trying to block core clean energy provisions designed to shift our electricity grid from fossil fuels toward renewables. Please let our senators hear from you today at https://interfaithpowerandlight.salsalabs.org/callcongresscopy1/index.html – renewable energy is essential for a safe climate.
Fifty senators – plus VP Kamala Harris – are all that is needed to pass truly transformative climate legislation via the Reconciliation process. Only two Democratic senators are holding this up. And now, Sen. Manchin has expressed opposition to the Clean Electricity Payment Program which would reward utilities for investing in renewable energy and penalize those that buy fossil fuel power, setting a target of 80% clean energy by 2030.

As Congress negotiates, we must remind them of the moral obligation we have to protect our most vulnerable neighbors and ensure a livable climate for future generations.
We are so close. Please let our senators hear from you – we must not give up on clean energy. Tell them they must find a way to keep renewable energy in the reconciliation package.
We know that a sustainable future with a thriving Creation, a fairer economy, and environmental and racial justice is possible.
