For the past year, activists across the country have been working tirelessly to demand Congress and President Biden act to protect our freedom to vote and ensure fair representation in government. After all, nothing in a democracy is more important than the right to vote.
The sad reality is our freedom to vote has been under attack by radical state lawmakers who are passing anti-democratic legislation in an attempt to suppress the vote. This year, 19 states have passed 33 laws restricting voting rights, and more are likely to come as Legislatures convene next year.
Thanks to grassroots work of supporters like you, a group of U.S. senators is fighting to pass the Freedom to Vote Act which would work to create national standards for voting practices, end partisan gerrymandering and limit the power of corporate money in politics.
This is exactly the legislation we need to create federal standards in time to ensure fair, safe, and accessible elections next November.
With the Senate wrapping up legislative work for 2021, there are only a handful of days left this month for the Senate to deliver on the Freedom to Vote Act.

Senator Mitch McConnell and his Republicans allies have made it clear that they’re not willing to support legislation that protects our right to vote, despite the Freedom to Vote Act’s massive popularity amongst voters across party lines.
That’s why we need Senate Democrats to work urgently to overcome obstruction in the Senate to deliver on the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Even if your Senators already have stated their support for the bill, it is crucial that they understand how many of their constituents demand these foundational changes. We need your senators to understand the urgency to get the Freedom to Vote Act passed and to not let anything, including the filibuster, stand in the way.
Failure is not an option. So long as we continue to make our voices heard and act together, we can ensure the passage of the most transformative voting rights and democracy legislation of this generation.
