Tell Our Senators New COVID Funding Needed to Continue Successfully Fighting the Pandemic

We’ve been told by health experts that we should expect another surge of COVID cases this fall and winter. But will our government be ready to respond?

Already, the Biden administration is running out of money, being forced to prioritize funding for vaccines over testing and treatment. This will mean that uninsured individuals won’t have access to the care they need and states will begin to run out of treatments that have prevented more COVID-related deaths.

During the opening months of 2021, after Joe Biden was sworn in as President, Congress passed a sweeping COVID response bill that helped deliver vaccinations and treatments to hundreds of millions of Americans. As a result, more than 70% of the eligible U.S. population are fully vaccinated.¹

But, with new variants and sub-variants popping up, and the need for more Americans to receive booster shots, now is the time to act.

We’re demanding Congress pass a COVID supplemental aid bill that ensures uninsured individuals continue to be able to access COVID vaccines, testing and treatment. A bill that allows the federal government to purchase future booster shots and treatments so that state supplies don’t run out.

And, we’re demanding that Congress include international COVID aid―both for humanitarian and self-serving reasons.

The last time Senate Majority Leader Schumer tried to bring up COVID funding, it was derailed by senators who wanted to attach anti-immigrant provisions or who just did not want to provide the funding. With all we’ve been through, how could they deny us the tools to face another wave of illness? We have to tell them to act now.
