From Families Against Mandatory Minimums (http://famm.org/):
Some old and new battles await us in the Pennsylvania legislature this year.
First, the old: several lawmakers have proposed reinstating the mandatory minimum sentences for gun possession offenses that the state’s Supreme Court struck down as unconstitutional in 2015. For the last six years, FAMM has helped defeat several attempts to bring mandatory sentences back – they are unfair, expensive, increase racial disparities in the justice system, and don’t make us safer. It looks likely that we’ll have to beat back mandatory minimums again this year.

Second, the new: FAMM is working with lawmakers to advance our Second Chances Agenda. We’re supporting bills that will create medical parole, reform life without parole sentences, and streamline the clemency process. We’ll have more updates and more ways for you to help in the coming months.
Thanks for all your help in Pennsylvania — having a fair sentencing system and second chances depends on all of us working together!
