New efforts to gut healthcare are scheduled to be voted on in the Senate TODAY. Poor Americans will face cuts to their care and many middle class working families will lose the vital subsidies available through health exchanges that enable them to afford insurance. What Medicaid funding is available will not be enough to pay for health care costs as funding will no longer be based on those costs, resulting in hospitals not getting reimbursed and staff losing their jobs. This will create a new population of people who need help, help that will no longer be there.
