From PennEnvironment (http://www.pennenvironment.org):
Every day, it seems like the need to address the climate crisis becomes more urgent. And we all know that politicians’ efforts to implement climate solutions have lagged behind the public’s resolve to tackle climate change.
That’s why it’s outrageous that a bipartisan group of legislators in Harrisburg are pushing a proposal to stop Gov. Wolf from tackling climate pollution from dirty coal-fired power plants.
Go to https://pennenvironment.webaction.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=35928 to ask your State Representative and Senator to oppose this disastrous attack on climate solutions.
It’s becoming increasingly apparent that politicians of all shades and stripes are in no rush to pass policies that will reduce global warming pollution.
That’s why I was so relieved that Gov. Wolf has decided to use his regulatory authority to join one of the nation’s most successful programs for reducing CO2 pollution from dirty power plants: the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
Yet instead of embracing this proposal, legislators in Harrisburg responded by swiftly introducing proposals to strip Gov. Wolf’s ability to opt Pennsylvania into this program.
Tell your state legislators to oppose this irresponsible proposal today.
These attacks to climate solutions have been introduced by two legislators from Western Pennsylvania’s Indiana County: House Bill 2025 introduced by State Rep. James Struzzi and Senate Bill 950 introduced by State Senator Joe Pittman. Sadly, these proposals already have over 80 cosponsors from both sides of the aisle.
We need our politicians to fight climate change–not continue the status quo and kick the can down the road.
That’s why it’s critical for your state representative and senator to understand that Pennsylvanians like you and me oppose this attack–and that their constituents expect them to take action to reduce climate pollution. Send a message to them today.
Joining RGGI is just the first step in Pennsylvania’s fight against climate change. But we can’t let global warming polluters and their political allies in Harrisburg stand in the way of climate progress.
Thank you for standing up for our climate.
