Tell the PA Fish and Boat Commission to Protect our Streams

Too many state legislators want to rollback clean water protections, which is exactly why we cannot miss the chance to urge the Fish and Boat Commission to protect 128 wild trout streams.

Pennsylvania has more polluted waterways than any other state—and that number is likely to increase. With rising demands on natural gas production, our rivers, lakes, and streams are under even greater threat of contamination.

That’s why we’re paying close attention to an upcoming Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission vote that, if successful, would protect 128 of our state’s cleanest streams, home to many wild trout populations.

Since the legislature is unlikely to protect these streams, it’s important that the Fish and Boat Commission takes action.

We’re teaming up with our allies at Conservation Voters of PA to tell the Commission to use this opportunity to protect Pennsylvania streams. Protecting Pennsylvania’s healthy streams is good for public health and the economy. We have a thriving outdoor tourism industry that depends on clean water and active fish populations – but if too many streams get contaminated and the trout die off, local businesses will suffer.

If we can get enough public support, streams throughout the state will be protected from development and other industrial uses that could threaten water quality and trout populations.
