From the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (http://www.interfaithimmigration.org):
This Thursday (Oct. 26), the U.S. House Judiciary Committee is holding an oversight hearing on the U.S. refugee resettlement program. Refugee resettlement is a life-saving opportunity for individuals and families fleeing persecution to rebuild their lives in safety. Over 65 million people have been forced to flee their homes – the largest figure in recorded history. More than half of the world’s 22 million refugees are children. Our Representatives need to hear from us today to ensure they affirm a robust refugee resettlement program.
CALL TODAY: Tell House Judiciary Committee Members to to Affirm the Refugee Resettlement Program & Support a Robust Refugee Admissions Goal! The direct phone lines of committee members are listed below. PA Representative Tom Marino is a member–see below. And you can urge your Representative to talk to colleagues on this committee–scroll down for more information.
Sample script: “I’m your constituent from [CITY/TOWN]. I strongly support refugee resettlement and am outraged that President Trump has set the refugee admissions cap for next year at 45,000. I urge you to affirm a robust refugee resettlement program and do everything in your power to see that the administration resettle at least 75,000 refugees in 2018. As we face a global refugee crisis with more than 22 million refugees, resettlement strengthens our national security, encourages other countries to keep their doors open to refugees, and advances our foreign policy interests. I call on you to protect the U.S. refugee resettlement program. My community welcomes refugees, and I urge the Representative to reflect the best of our American values of compassion and hospitality.”

You can also tweet House Judiciary Committee Members and your network: .@[REPRESENTATIVE] My community welcomes #refugees. Tell @POTUS 45k is INEXCUSABLE & #Welcome75k #refugees in the US & reject refugee/Muslim ban #RefugeesWelcome #GreaterAs1
You can also urge your Representative to urge their colleagues on the committee to support at least 75,000 refugees. Find contact information for your Representative at http://www.house.gov.
The Trump administration has set the refugee admissions ceiling for this fiscal year 2018 at 45,000 – the lowest level in U.S. history. As people of faith, we must make sure that members of the House Judiciary Committee hear loud and clear that our communities affirm the importance of the refugee resettlement program, 45,000 is an inexcusably low cap, and we must set a refugee admissions goal of at least 75,000.
Take action TODAY to make your voice heard and help us ensure that our country’s legacy protecting refugees can continue.
Thank you for all your work and support!
