Tell FERC to Reject the Atlantic Coast Pipeline

From Appalachian Voices (http://www.appvoices.org/):

Developers are seeking to build the Atlantic Coast Pipeline to ship fracked gas through West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina, adding to an already-large network of existing and proposed pipelines in the region. Not only would the pipeline permanently damage national forests — and the Appalachian Trail — it would lock us into decades of dependence on dirty fossil fuels, leading to further climate harm!

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has the power to approve or deny the pipeline, and they need to hear from you. Act now and tell FERC to reject the Atlantic Coast Pipeline at http://appvoices.org/fracking/acp-ferc-comments/.

This pipeline is not needed. Studies show that existing infrastructure is sufficient to meet our energy needs without the Atlantic Coast Pipeline and other proposed pipelines. Instead of sinking billions of dollars into new fossil fuel infrastructure, our region should invest in clean energy resources.

This project would cut a 600-mile scar across the Appalachian region, threatening headwater streams, wetlands and groundwater. It would endanger important cultural and historic resources. It would leave hundreds of communities vulnerable, and FERC approval would enable private property to be taken for the pipeline’s construction.

Tell FERC to reject the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. It is unnecessary, not in the public interest, and poses major threats to our climate and environment.
