Tell Congress We Need Increased Funding for Homeless Assistance Programs

From the National Alliance to End Homelessness (http://www.endhomelessness.org):

We are at the start of yet another federal budget cycle. The Alliance’s top priority is a substantial increase in funding for HUD’s homeless assistance programs (the Continuum of Care, and the Emergency Solutions Grants).

The Alliance is calling on Congress to increase funding to $3 billion for Fiscal Year 2020.

The House is writing the first spending bill; we expect that the subcommittee that writes the Transportation-HUD spending bill will pass its bill sometime shortly after May 20.

They need to hear as much as possible from you before then–take action at https://endhomelessness.org/actions/tell-congress-fund-homeless-assistance-grants/.

Please use our advocacy tools to email your House Members, asking them to contact Appropriations Subcommittee leadership about this important funding. There will be many other advocacy opportunities over the course of the year, of course. But getting a good number in the initial House bill is especially important.

Thank you for all of your work in this effort. The appropriations process is a long one, and we rely on consistent advocacy from people like you to secure appropriate investments to end homelessness.

Take action now!
