From Project H.O.M.E. (http://www.projecthome.org):
We’ve just received an urgent update about health center funding and need you to take action at http://action.projecthome.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=1057 by Friday end of day! The current “Continuing Resolution” spending plan will ONLY include funding for CHIP – not Community Health Centers, Teaching Health Centers, National Health Service Corps or any other health-related program.
We are grateful that the Continuing Resolution being debated by Congress does include a re-authorization of CHIP funding (health insurance for kids). However, health centers across the country, like our Stephen Klein Wellness Center, are being threatened with a reduction of 70% in their federal funding if Congress does not take action to include a re-authorization for health centers in the Continuing Resolution. This will harm homeless and low-income people, reduce access to life-saving healthcare, and result in job losses in communities all across America.
Please email your representatives to ask that they include re-authorization of health center funding in the Continuing Resolution to support renewal of funding for health centers.
