From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):
We are saddened and outraged over the shooting that claimed 59 lives and injured more than 500 in Las Vegas this week. We mourn those we lost and are keeping their families and the injured in our thoughts and prayers. Last night we held vigils with Governor Wolf in Phila. and with Mayor Peduto in Pittsburgh to show our support for the victims and their families and to pledge to take action to solve this uniquely American problem.
But thoughts, prayers, and vigils are not enough. The sad, sickening truth is the NRA currently is pushing a proposal that would deregulate the sale of silencers. Sales of silencers have been highly regulated since the 1930s. But now, in a bid to help the NRA and gun manufacturers boost profits with sales of “must have accessories,” Congress is poised to roll back those regulations and make it very easy to buy a silencer. In fact, in PA, people would be able to buy silencers in private sales without a background check!
We know we already asked you to email and call your Representative on this issue last week, but in the wake of another tragedy it’s important we work even harder to make sure the NRA can’t roll back already loose gun laws.
Please tell Congress to take this bill off the table and get to work on real measures to make us safer at http://org2.salsalabs.com/o/5610/c/1537/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=25409.
