From the Latin America Working Group (http://www.lawg.org/home):
We did it. In July, we set a goal–100 signatories on a bipartisan letter calling for an extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Hondurans and Salvadorans. We’re excited to let you know that, thanks to your action, we exceeded that target.
A total of 116 representatives signed the letter. We raised our voices to defend members of our communities, and our lawmakers listened. Check and see if your representative is on the final list of signees. If they are, take a minute to thank them! If not, let them know you’re disappointed and demand they speak up to #SaveTPS at http://org.salsalabs.com/o/625/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=22106.
NOTE: The only PA representative who has signed is Rep. Dwight Evans (PA-2). If you are in his district, please say thanks; for others, take action at the link.
Need more TPS talking points to hit home with your representative? Check out this document that LAWG coauthored on the negative consequences ending TPS would have on Central America.
We may have reached this goal, but there is plenty of work left to do to support migrants and refugees. We’re now calling on representatives to support The Dream Act of 2017, a bill that would give TPS beneficiaries and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients a pathway to legal permanent status and citizenship. Hundreds of thousands of youth need you. Help them secure a future. Call your Congressman >>
