Every year in the U.S., 700 to 900 women die from pregnancy or childbirth-related causes, and some 65,000 nearly die — in fact, the United States has the worst maternal death record in the developed world. [1]

American women are more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than women in 45 other countries, including the United Kingdom and much poorer nations like Libya and Kazakhstan. [2] Additionally, data reveals major racial disparities in maternal mortality rates: Black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy complications than white women, independent of age, parity, or education. [3]

This is where YOU can make a difference! By adding your signature, you will be part of a movement urging members of Congress to support the Maternal Health Accountability Act in the U.S. Senate and the Preventing Maternal Deaths Act in the U.S. House (S. 1112 and H.R. 1318)!
