From First Focus (https://firstfocus.org/):
Child poverty in the U.S. remains high, with nearly 1 in 5 children living in poverty. In order to make real headway in reducing child poverty in the U.S., we need a national commitment that involves coordinated action on the federal, state and local levels.
Reintroduced in July, The Child Poverty Reduction Act (S. 1630/H.R. 3381) would establish such a commitment by creating a national child poverty target that sets the goal of cutting the U.S. child poverty rate by half within a decade.
First Focus Campaign for Children is working to build support for this important legislation and we need your help! Here are ways you can take action to ensure that our leaders take steps to end child poverty:
- Learn about the Child Poverty Reduction Act, read the bill text, and view a current list of endorsing organizations at https://campaignforchildren.org/take-action-child-poverty-reduction-act-of-2017/.
- Send a letter to your representatives urging them to sign on to this bill at http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/51115/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=23067.
- If you represent an organization, you are invited to add its name to the list of endorsers at https://form.jotform.com/72206508032143.
You are critical for helping us get this message to Capitol Hill. Thank you for prioritizing children.
