From the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (http://www.interfaithimmigration.org):
On Tuesday, September 5, President Trump announced an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, turning our nation’s back on undocumented immigrant youth who are valued members of our communities. DACA has allowed nearly 800,000 immigrant youth to work, go to school, raise a family, and flourish in the United States. Current DACA recipients will see their protection revoked starting in six months, and no new DACA applications filed after today will be considered. The consequences of repealing DACA are immediate, devastating, and profound. We need all hands on deck to urge our Members of Congress to pass the Dream Act of 2017 and protect immigrant youth!

Sample Script to Representative/Senators: “I’m your constituent from [City, State]. I support the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and strongly oppose President Trump’s announcement to end it. DACA has provided nearly 800,000 immigrant youth the opportunity to work, raise a family, and pursue their dreams. I urge you to support a clean passage of the Dream Act of 2017 (S.1615/H.R.3440) and do everything in your power to protect immigrant youth.”
Terminating DACA – even with a six month delay for current DACA recipients – is wrong and cruel. The DACA program has protected young immigrants from deportation, whose lives and future are now at risk. DACA recipients are mothers, fathers, teachers, nurses, lawyers, scientists, and leaders of a new generation of Americans. DACA’s repeal devastates the lives and families of thousands of immigrant youth who worship in our pews, study in our schools, and work in our communities. We must rise up together and urge our elected leaders to pass the Dream Act of 2017 and ensure immigrant youth have the chance to reach their dreams.
