From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is working with the auto industry to try to roll back the Clean Car Standards. These standards are the most effective policy we have on the books to combat global warming. The impacts of climate change and vehicle pollution disproportionately affect low-income communities and people of color, the elderly, and children. The standards, once fully implemented, will save thousands of lives every year and improve our air quality.
The good news is that there are bills in Congress that will protect our Clean Car Standards as they were adopted. Go to http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=24996 to urge your representatives to support the Clean Car Standards.
As people of faith, we are called to care for “the least of these” by speaking out for all of God’s children. That is why it is our moral obligation to condemn efforts to weaken the clean car standards that will endanger the health and lives of the most vulnerable among us. On behalf of the 25 million Americans, including six million children, who suffer from asthma, we oppose any rollback as a shameful injustice.
These life-saving standards were adopted in 2012 and ensure that cars, pickup trucks, and SUVs continue to get more fuel-efficient every year. Senator Markey and Congresswoman Matsui have written bills that keep these standards in place. We need more of our legislators to support these forward-thinking bills.
Click here to urge a yes vote for the GAS MONEY Saved Act in the Senate and the Clean and Efficient Cars Act of 2018 in the House. These bills will protect the Clean Car Standards from the unconscionable attempts to weaken or repeal them.
We are called to be stewards of God’s creation. Turning the nation’s back on a policy that protects our air and climate is wrong. Turning the nation’s back on a policy that protects the most vulnerable is a terrible injustice.
Help protect the Clean Car Standards, our climate and clean up the air for everyone. Click here to let your members of Congress hear from you.
