From Church World Service (http://www.churchworldservice.org):
War, conflict, and persecution have forced millions to leave their homes, creating more refugees than at any other time in history. Most recently, conflicts resulted in hundreds of thousands of Afghans at risk – as many as a million in need of humanitarian protection. UNHCR estimates that 1,473,156 people are in urgent need of resettlement in 2022. As we face the worst refugee crisis in history, it is vital that we urge the Biden Administration to set the refugee admissions goal for FY 2022 at 200,000, immediately engage in meaningful consultations with Congress, as required by law, and provide robust investments to ensure that the U.S. resettlement program can meet today’s humanitarian crises.
At no other time has our moral responsibility to uphold these principles been greater. Your voice is vital to urge the administration to commit to resettling 200,000 refugees and advocate for a robust level of funding for the U.S. resettlement program to rebuild our nation’s capacity to welcome.
