Submit Comment: No Keystone XL

From 350.org (https://350.org/):

Just a few short weeks ago, a federal judge ruled that the Administration’s review of Keystone XL was inadequate – now, the administration is back again with another sloppy review just 37 days later saying the impacts of the project would be “minor.”

A truly in-depth study would take months, if not years to complete. This is an insult to our communities, our water, and our climate. We will not accept Trump’s shortcuts to help out his friends in the fossil fuel industry.

Submit a public comment at http://act.350.org/letter/kxl-comments-october/ to tell the Administration they won’t get away with this sham review: No Keystone XL.

Releasing their ‘new’ environmental review opens a 45-day public comment period before they draft the final version. You may remember we collected public comments just a few months ago – but we need to speak up again and make sure our voices are heard and counted.

The Cheyenne River Sioux Chairman, Harold Frazier, said in a statement this week that the struggle is approaching, as TransCanada started pre-construction work near the tribe’s South Dakota reservation.1

We can’t let the Trump administration re-write the facts about the harm Keystone XL would do to communities and the climate. Submit a comment now.

This fight is about to ramp up, but momentum is already on our side. Two new lawsuits were filed this month. First, the Fort Belknap Indian Community of Montana and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota are suing the Trump Administration for failing to consider the impacts of this pipeline on their respective territories, water systems, and sacred lands.2

Secondly, a lawsuit was filed after evidence was found that law enforcement agencies have been maneuvering to crack down on anticipated protests against Keystone XL.3

The last four years have been the hottest on record, and we know this pipeline would be game over for the climate. We can’t stay silent, submit a comment now.

P.S. The third installation of solar panels in the path of Keystone XL was completed last month. Watch this video to see footage from the day and how you can support #SolarXL.
