Demand that Congress Strengthen Medicare, Medicaid, Affordable Care Act

From the Economic Policy Institute (http://www.epi.org/):

Medicare and Medicaid have just turned 53 years old. These critical programs serve 110 million Americans each year―older Americans and low-income families, many of whom could not afford health care services without these programs.

But the administration and congressional Republicans are trying to create an economy and a health care system that only works for the elite few, not everyday people.

In December, congressional Republicans passed a tax scam that will slash taxes overwhelmingly for the richest households and corporations. And since then President Trump has proposed cutting $1 trillion from critical health care services, while Paul Ryan and House Republicans have proposed cutting $2 trillion.

Now, congressional Republicans have introduced round two of their tax scam. They want to hand even more massive tax cuts to the rich and big corporations while demanding cuts to critical services for older Americans and working families.

On Medicare’s 53rd birthday, demand that Congress strengthen, not cut Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Sign the petition today at https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/happy-53rd-birthday-medicare-and-medicaid-sign-now-to-strengthen-not-cut-critical-health-care-services!

Medicare and Medicaid are constantly under attack―not just by politicians in Washington, but by the deep-pocketed health care industry who pay their “elite” economic policy experts to undermine these critical programs.

At the EPI Policy Center we strive to advance an agenda that lifts everyone up. Our economists understand the data and the theory to help craft policies that support working people. They use their expertise to change the world and make sure that working people have a fair shake―on the job and in our communities.

That’s why we’re standing with our partners demanding Congress stop attacking Americans’ health care.

Sign the petition to Congress demanding that instead of attacking Americans’ health care, they strengthen Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act for working families and older Americans.

Together, let’s demand an economy and a health care system that works for everyone!
