From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):
Over 1300 clergy and faith leaders have now signed on to the White Faith Leader Declaration at https://faithinaction.salsalabs.org/whiteclergydeclaration/index.html. Please sign and continue to circulate the link with friends and colleagues as our June 30 deadline approaches.
In early July, we and our coalition partners plan to release the letter and announce a body of anti-racism training/formation and a powerful public witness in late summer. This work will complement the ongoing work of white faith leaders to support Black-led organizing efforts, and will be accountable to a council of BIPOC advisors. We will have more details to share in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we are working with our partners to organize a series of webinars to equip white faith leaders to do the work of uprooting institutional and structural racism. We invite you to register for the first session, “What does it mean to defund the police?”, which will be offered next Wednesday, June 24 at 4 p.m. PT | 5 p.m. MT | 6 p.m. CT | 7 p.m. ET. The discussion will be led by Faith in Action staff leading our racial justice work.
And here’s a piece that ran last week in The Atlantic which offers a helpful framework for thinking about how we can begin to reimagine policing across the United States.
