From Pennsylvania Common Cause: (https://www.commoncause.org/pennsylvania/):
If the U.S. Postal Service runs out of money during the COVID-19 crisis — millions of your fellow Pennsylvanians will lose access to vital medications, communications with their family members, and more. Not to mention, it will make it more difficult for Pennsylvanians to vote by mail.
That’s why last week, we asked Common Cause members nationwide to call on Congress to fully fund the USPS in its next stimulus package. And already, tens of thousands of members like you have spoken out.
But our work isn’t done. We need to keep up the pressure! Will you join our coalition of postal workers, local advocates, and everyday Americans nationwide — and urge Congress to save the USPS? Add my name at https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/save-the-us-postal-service.
The Postal Service is being hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis. Experts say that without support from the government, the agency could soon run out of money and be forced to cut its vital services — despite an expected high demand for mail-in ballots here in PA this fall.
Losing the USPS — especially in the midst of this public health crisis — would be devastating to our democracy. Many Pennsylvanians from around the Commonwealth plan to return their 2020 Census forms by mail this year, to make sure we get an accurate count of everyone living in the U.S. — and millions will rely on vote-by-mail to safely make themselves heard in the primary and general elections.
While you can fill out the 2020 Census online here, and request your vote-by-mail ballot online here, the Postal Service fills important gaps for people who have limited access to the internet, and allows us to return our ballots securely.
Common Cause members aren’t the only ones worried about the future of the Postal Service, Editorial Boards from one end of PA to the other are calling on Congress to fund the U.S. Postal Service:
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette – Save the Postal Service: Congress must protect the agency for years to come
“Congress must protect the Postal Service. It is the voice of the people and the people want the agency to survive. And Mr. Trump, who has threatened to veto stimulus legislation that contains funding for the Postal Service, must not be allowed to strong-arm the agency into failure.”
The York Dispatch – EDITORIAL: We all need the Postal Service to work
“This is a time when we all need the post office to continue doing its job. Congress needs to stand up to Trump and give the USPS the funds it needs to keep doing its essential work during this crisis.”
There’s a lot at stake here. But if we speak out, we can make a difference. Our democracy depends on it.

The Postal service must be protected, strengthened, well-maintained and improved for the good of the nation.
