From the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (http://www.pahealthaccess.org):
Pennsylvania is facing a healthcare affordability crisis. Even those of us who have health coverage through our jobs are struggling to pay for the care we need.
A recently released poll in PA showed that 1 out of every 2 Pennsylvanians has struggled with paying for healthcare and 4 in 5 Pennsylvanians are worried about affording it in the future.
Sandra, this shouldn’t be the case. We’re pushing for lawmakers to step up and make healthcare more affordable, but first we need to hear from you to understand the real-life stories of real people who are dealing with this.
Please go to https://pahealth.salsalabs.org/shareyouraffordabilitystory/index.html and let us know whether your job-based insurance has gotten better or worse over time and how that impacted you or your family? The more examples we have, the more powerful our campaign will be.
Here are some of the common ways Pennsylvanians are impacted by this crisis:
- People told us they skipped or delayed doctor’s appointments, medical tests, or procedures because they couldn’t afford to go.
- People received large unexpected medical bills.
- People told us they cut pills in half, skipped doses, or never filled prescriptions.
- People used up their savings, went into debt, or couldn’t purchase necessities like food and heat.
If you’ve faced one of these problems, we need to hear from you. As always, your personal information will be kept private unless you give us permission to share it.
