From Environment America (https://environmentamerica.org/):
Do we have the technical potential to power our society with energy sources that don’t pollute our environment or threaten the future of our planet?
Absolutely.
Our research partners at Environment America Research & Policy Center and Frontier Group just released a new report, “We Have the Power,” which shows that we have enough wind and solar energy resources to power the nation many times over. In fact, just our solar resources alone have the technical potential to produce 78 times the US electricity use in 2020.1
So why haven’t we fully embraced our clean energy potential? Because we haven’t yet embraced the policies and commitments we need to make it to 100 percent renewable energy.
Help spread the word at https://environmentamerica.webaction.org/letter/?letter_KEY=66: Submit a letter to the editor at your local publication using our quick and easy template to support clean, renewable energy.
Your voice is loudest at the local level. When you publish a letter to the editor in your local paper, it can have a big impact on members of your community who may never have given this issue much thought or considered it something that affected them locally. The more people who know about the incredible potential of renewables to sustainably power our society, the more progress we can make to turn that vision into a reality.
That’s why we’re working to get letters published in papers across the country, from small town presses to large publications.
Submit your letter to the editor in support of clean energy today.
If this report showed us anything, it’s that we know we have the power — we just have to put it to work. By voicing your support at the local level, you can be part of making 100 percent renewable energy a reality.
