See How Pennsylvania Fares on Best States to Work Index

From Oxfam America (http://www.oxfamamerica.org):

As we head toward Labor Day, here’s a chilling fact: Each week, about a million people file new jobless claims.

One. Million. People.

So how do working families cope with all the challenges from the pandemic—the public health crisis, and the economic catastrophe? Most people rely on resources in their own states.

Oxfam has just published an index of how states are responding to this crisis in a special edition of our Best States to Work Index:  the interactive map provides stark illustrations, and the report lays out the details. NOTE: Pennsylvania does not fare well in this evaluation.

The pandemic has put millions of working families at risk of illness, homelessness, and hunger. Since the federal government response was slow and halting, many states took action to shore up safety nets and catch working families at risk of falling–while others failed to respond at all.  See where your state ranks here: my home state of Ohio doesn’t provide paid family or sick leave – hope your state does better!
