From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):
From our friends at the Children’s Defense Fund:
Nearly 1 in 5 children live in poverty in the United States. That’s more than 12.8 million children who often face inadequate health care and nutrition, untreated illness, unsafe child care, unstable housing and inferior schools.
This week, the Children’s Defense Fund released Ending Child Poverty Now, the second edition of our groundbreaking report first released in 2015, in which we detail how America can immediately lift 5.5 million children out of poverty and reduce child poverty by 57 percent by making modest investments in nine policies that work. We know how to lift children out of poverty—we must increase employment, make work pay more and meet children’s basic needs. Now we need people like you to help us build the movement to make it happen. Read the report, explore our interactive map and find resources for getting the word out on social media here.
