Tell Congress to Protect the Tongass National Forest and Pass the Roadless Rule

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

The Roadless Rule has protected the Tongass National Forest’s salmon, wildlife and recreational opportunities for nearly two decades. While the administration is threatening these values, Congress can make sure Roadless Rule protections stick by passing a bill that writes them into federal law.

The Roadless Rule has shielded the Tongass, and much of our last remaining wild national forests across the country, from logging and other development that would destroy them.

Please ask your members of Congress for their support for Roadless Rule protections in the Tongass National Forest at https://secure.everyaction.com/ZqtKH1r5Hk6Gcw-VCHOrJA2.

Your signature will help ensure the rules created to protect our national forests have the strength they need to stand the test of time. Urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor Senator Maria Cantwell and Representative Ruben Gallego’s Roadless Area Conservation Act.

There is broad, deep opposition to the Trump administration plan to gut longstanding protections against logging and road building in Alaska’s Tongass and Chugach national forests. In addition to more than 400,000 individual comments submitted; 13 tribes and city governments in Southeast Alaska, 254 commercial fisherman in Southeast Alaska, more than 100 elected officials, nearly 200 businesses in Alaska and the lower-48, and 234 scientists have told the U.S. Forest Service that they oppose the proposed Alaska Roadless Rule.

Please help continue the momentum by urging your members of Congress to take action today!
