House Democrats on March 12 unveiled their next big piece of legislation: HR6, or the Dream and Promise Act, which would help provide a clear pathway to permanent residency for an estimated 3.6 million immigrants brought to the US as children, plus hundreds of thousands who’ve received temporary protection from war or natural disaster. With the future of the country’s most vulnerable communities hanging in the balance, this would be a big step towards larger comprehensive immigration reform.
The legislation’s got a good shot at passing the House, but it’s less clear if it can pick up bipartisan support in the Senate. Learn more about the bill – and how you can support it – here.
