From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):
Today, our partners at the United Church of Christ released their new study “The Toxic 100: America’s Super Polluters,” which documents the 100 industrial facilities emitting the most toxic air pollution into heavily populated areas, along with demographic details on who lives near them. Check the map to see if one of the 100 is in your community and plan a Sacred Activism event.
It can be hard to stand up in public for our beliefs about caring for Creation, but all of our religious traditions have stories of prophets speaking truth to power. It’s time to draw on our prophetic traditions and speak out for our children and grandchildren to ensure they have a safe and healthy climate and livable future.
Congregations across the nation are planning Sacred Activism events as part of this year’s Faith Climate Action Week, “Love Made Visible: Engaging in Sacred Activism” to protect the people we love and care about who are most impacted by climate change.
Congregations are planning faithful prayer vigils, rallies, marches, standing witness at polluting facilities, and meeting with elected officials to make the moral call for climate justice.
Post your event on the IPL calendar of so we can amplify your event.
