Sign Petition Calling on Legislature to Authorize Creation of Vote Centers for November Election

From Pennsylvania Common Cause: (https://www.commoncause.org/pennsylvania/):

Every eligible Pennsylvanian has always had the right to cast a ballot in person, but many voters had difficulty exercising that right during our primary — there was widespread voter confusion, with polling places consolidated due to the pandemic.

Many voters showed up to the polling places where they’d been voting for years — only to see an empty building and no signage telling them where they should go instead. [1]

We’re worried that we’ll see this widespread confusion again in November. It’s unlikely that all existing polling locations will open as usual — and we’re expecting significantly greater turnout than we saw in the primary.

But our Legislature has the power to limit voter confusion and make it easier for Pennsylvanians across the state to vote — by creating vote centers.

ADD MY NAME at https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/pa-legislature-create-vote-centers-in-pennsylvania-for-the-november-election: The Legislature should authorize county boards of elections to create vote centers, which will minimize confusion and maximize accessibility for Pennsylvanians.

We need accessible in-person voting options in November — especially for voters who are unable to vote by mail, who did not receive a ballot, or who require assistive technology or language options to vote.

Vote centers are an alternative to our traditional polling places — voters can cast their ballot on Election Day at any vote center in their county, regardless of residential address.

They can vote wherever it’s most convenient — at the vote center near their workplace during their lunch break, at the center across the street from their child’s school before school pick-up, or at the center closest to their home at the end of the day.

And, because voters can show up at any of the vote centers in their county, they don’t have to worry about tracking last-minute changes or consolidation of polling locations. This limits voter confusion — paving the way for any eligible voter to easily cast a ballot.

Plus, vote centers are already used in many states across the country — we literally have existing road maps to implement vote centers in Pennsylvania without sacrificing security or opening ourselves up to bad actors.

Tell the Pennsylvania Legislature: Pass legislation authorizing county boards of elections to create vote centers!

The more options voters have this November, the easier it will be for them to exercise their right to vote — the cornerstone of a democratic society. It will take all of us working together to protect and keep it, and it always has.
