From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):
For decades, workers’ rights have faced relentless attacks. But now, we have an opportunity to make a historic change. Demand Congress pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to strengthen workers’ rights to negotiate fair pay and benefits. Add your name at https://actionnetwork.org/forms/the-pro-act/!
Our outdated labor laws have been chipped away and weakened by anti-worker legislators. Time and again, we hear about corporations openly union-busting and retaliating against working people without consequence. That is unacceptable!
Strong unions mean higher wages, safer working conditions and dignity for all people who work. Passing the PRO Act is our first step to getting there.
If passed, the PRO Act, would:
- Penalize employers that interfere with their employees’ organizing efforts;
- Make explicitly clear that employers cannot interfere with employee unionization voting procedures;
- Enhance support for worker strikes and boycotts;
- Repeal “right to work” laws, which were created during the Jim Crow era to divide Black and white workers.
The PRO Act is the most significant worker empowerment legislation since the Great Depression. Together, we are going to compel Congress to act. Thank you for all you do to fight for our shared priorities
