Pennsylvania has updated our mask guidance to follow the latest recommendations from the CDC.
If you’re fully vaccinated and you’re getting together with others who are also fully vaccinated, you don’t have to wear a mask or social distance.
What that means from a practical standpoint is that if everyone is vaccinated, you can visit with friends and family.
Research has shown that fully vaccinated people are less likely to have asymptomatic infection and potentially less likely to spread the virus that causes COVID-19 to others.
However, there is still more to learn about how long protection lasts and how much vaccines protect against new variants of the virus, so some prevention measures will continue to be in place for all people, regardless of their vaccination status.
That means you must continue to wear a mask when you’re out in public, including when you visit a business.
And if you’re ever in doubt, wear a mask just to be safe.
You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after your second shot if you got Moderna or Pfizer vaccines.
If you got the J&J vaccine, you’re considered fully vaccinated two weeks after your single-dose shot.
While masks may stay with us for a while, vaccines will help us get back to our lives.
