From Just Harvest (http://www.justharvest.org/):
The process for PA and other states getting Pandemic EBT benefits to families with added meal costs due to school and childcare closures has hit many snags and roadblocks. But these nutrition benefits have been a huge help to struggling families, even though they arrived way later than they should have.
So we’re very happy to announce that the USDA approved PA’s plan to distribute Summer P-EBT. Here are the details:
- Families with eligible children will receive $375 per child. To be eligible:
- your school-age child, including graduating seniors, must have already received P-EBT or they must get enrolled in their schools’ free or reduced-price meals program by the end of August;
- your child age 0-5 must be enrolled in SNAP by the end of August.
- Payments for school-age children will be issued between September 20 – October 8, 2021. These will post to the same card as your school year benefits.
- Payments for kids ages 0-5 will be issued October 14-15, 2021.
As Congress continues to debate what items will be in the American Jobs and Families Plan infrastructure spending packages, its urgent that your members of Congress hear from you about how P-EBT has helped you. P-EBT was based on a small pilot program called Summer EBT, and its success is clear. Summer EBT should be expanded and made permanent so no family ever goes hungry when school is closed – due to emergency, the weekend, or the summer.

Tell them: It’s time to end the tax breaks and loopholes for corporations and the wealthy so that we can invest in everyday families and ensure they are getting by. To build back better we need to end child hunger. Please expand and make Summer P-EBT permanent.
