Last January, you fought back when President Trump signed a discriminatory executive order that blocked refugees and individuals from certain Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the United States. You flooded airports, showed up at rallies, called your elected officials and made your voices heard on social media to make sure no one would be banned from this country because of where they come from or how they pray.
We promised to take President Trump to the Supreme Court if we had to, and on October 10, that’s exactly what we’re doing. As we fight back in the highest court in the country, we need you to keep raising your voice against this blatantly discriminatory order from our president.
Here in the United States, one of our most deeply-held values is enshrined in the First Amendment: the government cannot discriminate on the basis of religion. But since Trump took office, he has pushed an aggressively nativist and Islamophobic agenda, evident in the fact that one of his very first executive orders sought to ban people from the U.S. based solely on their religion.
This Muslim and refugee ban isn’t just an attack on those populations: it’s a threat to anyone who believes in expressing themselves and their beliefs freely. This administration has repeatedly tried to advance its dangerous agenda against communities of color, immigrants, the LGBTQ community, and other marginalized groups. It’s up to us to fight back.
Thank you for fighting side by side with us as we demand no Muslim ban now, no Muslim ban ever.
