The seed collection is climate-hardy Living Seed varieties. The Pizza Garden seed collection can mostly be planted right outdoors except the tomatoes and peppers that do best when started indoors.
The theme of this year’s Faith Climate Action Week is “Sacred Ground: Cultivating Connections Between our Faith, our Food, and the Climate.” We will examine how our food systems contribute to injustice and to climate change, and how our faith traditions call us to respond with practical solutions using the resources in the organizer’s kit.
A few of those practical solutions are supporting an existing food garden in your community that serves the food insecure, or starting one in partnership with your congregation and other organizations in your community.
Consider donating a Pizza Garden Seed kit to a garden in your community or using these seeds to start a garden of your own to support the food insecure. Food banks welcome fresh produce!
There’s no better way to learn about Sacred Ground than to tend a garden that’s good for your health, your community, and the climate. Get five climate-friendly growing tips in this short instructional video from our partner this year – Kiss the Ground.
